Family Night Idea: Fondue

I really wanted to do something fun on New Year's Eve- I mean it's a pretty long night. I'd just gotten a fondue kit for Christmas so when I saw the packets of fondue cheese at the grocery store on New Year's Eve, it was a no-brainer.

This can be a super fun activity/meal for any weekend night. Try it out.

All you need is: fondue cheese (or a simple recipe for homemade fondue), veggies like carrots, celery, snap peas, broccoli, cut-up bread (I set out regular and gluten-free), crackers, and even meats if you like them dipped in cheese. Weird, but you gotta do you.

For my chocolate fondue, I melted chocolate chips in the microwave at short intervals, stirring every 20 seconds. Don't burn it. It gets clumpy and weird. Don't ask me how I know. You can serve this with brownie bites, rice krispy treats, strawberries, sliced apples, bananas, blueberries, graham crackers, mini biscotti, marshmallows, pretzels, clementines...the list is endless.

I have the Starfrit Electric Fondue set and love that there is no flame. It comes with metal skewers- watch little kids with those and let older ones know they need to be careful.

Fondue night was so much fun and it's a great way to get pickier children to try fruits and vegetables they otherwise might not try.

Boxed fondue cheese is a bit tangy in flavor. Your family might like a homemade recipe better with a cheese they are used to like cheddar.

Here's an easy, mild recipe.

You can find the fondue kit I have and a few others I like in my Amazon store. *I earn a commission as an Amazon creator but the opinions are all mine and honest.

Happy family time!
